The Centre-based Childcare Junior Preschool program creates a welcoming space for 16 children aged 2½ to 3. Indoors, children develop cognitive and social skills through play-based activities, while outdoors they are encouraged to develop gross motor skills. The Junior Preschool program is full-time.

Junior Preschool Daily Schedule

The following schedule will give you a general idea of how your child’s day will go at Centrepointe Childcare Centre. For a more detailed schedule of a specific group, contact us.

Time	Activities
Centre Opens 7:30 am	Drop off and free play: Goal: to make children feel welcome as they arrive and provide comfort at separation. Morning snack offered from 8-8:30: Goals: to meet the children’s nutritional needs for the morning. Outdoor play (minimum of 1 hour of outdoor play weather permitting) Goal: to encourage gross motor skills and physical development. Free play including art and sensory activities Goal: to learn and develop skills through play. These skills include social skills, fine motor and play skills.
11:20	Large group circle/bathroom routine Goal: to develop language and teach concepts (colours, shapes etc)
11:40	Lunch time Goals: to provide a full course meal that meets the nutritional needs of the children, encourages self-help skills and promotes social interactions.
12:20pm	Bathroom routine in preparation for rest time
12:30	Rest time Goals: to provide opportunities for rest or sleep
2:30	Wake up time/bathroom routine
3:00	Snack time Goals: to provide the children’s nutritional needs for the afternoon
3:30	Outdoor play (weather permitting we play outside until closing, playing inside if necessary) Goals: to encourage gross motor skills and physical development.
5:45 pm	Centre closes

How to Register

We enroll new children from the City of Ottawa waiting list. For us to best serve you and your child, please visit the City of Ottawa Daycare Services website and fill in the City of Ottawa Child Care Registry and Waitlist form. It is through the City of Ottawa waitlist that we enroll new children into our centre-based childcare. The City of Ottawa form also allows parents to apply for a financial subsidy.

You will be contacted when a space becomes available that meets your family’s needs.
